Naming Practices of our Davenports

Did the children of Wm & Comfort's names follow any of the naming patterns??
John - first son, possibly could be Wm's fathers name
Mary - first daughter, possibly could be Wm's mothers name
Agnes - second daughter ?? from Comfort's line??
Thomas - second son, ?? from Comfort's line??
George - ??
Wm - after the father
Sarah - after the mother "Sarah Comfort Fisher"
Margaret - ??

Did any of these names/naming patterns continue? Can these patterns give us any hints?

William Davenport's Rev. War File Received

I just received the National Archives Revolutionary file for William Davenport (Comfort) R. 2678 from North Carolina. It is 13 pages long. (4 pages can be viewed on HeritageQuest database at your local library). The file contains notarized statements (4-5 May 1853) from Thomas Davenport (son); Charles Sweeney (oldest Community member and family acquaintance); Robert Carson (family acquaintance)taken in Casey Co, KY.
The file appears to be the source of the following information:
Wm was from Surry Co, NC at the time of service
Thomas is the son of Wm & Comfort Davenport
Three children were older then Thomas.
Thomas is 77 years since April last (on 5 May 1853)
Thomas and Mrs. Margaret Clifton(Macon Co, IL) were the only surviving children of Wm & Comfort in 1853
Wm & Comfort married abt. 1770 in Accomac Co -due to the ages of the older brothers & sisters)
Wm & Comfort came to Casey Co, KY by 1806
Wm died in abt 1823
Comfort died as Wm's widow
Comfort died 30 Nov 1838

Now we can see where come of the internet informaion has come from. If you would like to read the file yourself, it cost me, $50 and, I am charging $10 including U.S.postage to send it to you. Please email me your address information.

Calling all William and Comfort Davenport Researchers

It is time to pool our information about where this family really was in the early 1700's. Through all the generations it all comes back to William Davenport and Comfort Fisher.
We have had 2 DNA tests done from this line and neither of them match with any of the Parmunkey or Tidewater Davenport groups, but they do match as being from the same line! It is time we move on to another direction. So lets all recheck our information and hopefully work together on this research challenge.
It is important with genealogy research to report what you know to be true with proof.
So lets make that a goal to state your source if you are providing information.
Please introduce yourself in the comments of the next post with what child's line you follow.
